Bill is in long term recovery for his alcoholism and decided to change his career path in order to be able to help others that are seeking treatment for their addictions. “It is a pleasure each day to come and work with such a talented group of addiction treatment professionals and to see the progress our young adult clients are making during their time with us.”
In his free time, Bill enjoys photography and travel.
Stacey Smith, PhD, CSAT, EMDR
Dr. Stacey Smith is our Clinical Director. He oversees the day to day clinical operations for this unique treatment center. Dr. Smith is a licensed psychologist in both Arizona and Texas. He has been working in the addiction field in both residential and IOP settings since 2010. He is dedicated to assisting those suffering from alcohol and chemical substance use disorder. He has also done a great deal of work with process addictions such as intimacy disorder, sex, gambling and gaming. During this time, Dr. Smith has become well versed in assisting patients in addressing co-occurring psychiatric diagnoses as well. Throughout his career, Dr. Smith has worked as a primary therapist, Director of Intensive Outpatient Programs and Clinical Director of a residential treatment center. He has an eclectic approach to working with addiction, realizing that there is no ‘one size fits all’ type of treatment. He uses psychodynamic processes, cognitive behavioral and motivational interviewing techniques in his work. With his desire to help patients with childhood trauma issues, he chose to obtain additional training in EMDR therapy. Having specialized in young adult substance use disorders, trauma, and process addictions, Dr. Smith offers clients a unique approach that is tailored to the individual needs of everyone that walks through the doors of Elm Tree Recovery. He happily shares, “I was very excited to be a part of Elm Tree Recovery from the very beginning. Our program was developed to provide a wide range of treatment to our young adult residents. The ability to help our clients to further their education or obtain training in the trades following treatment, is so very rewarding.”
